El verdadero secreto de la paz y la felicidad aquí en la tierra se encuentra en algo muy sencillo y, a la vez, muy complicado: conformar nuestra voluntad a la de Dios, viendo en todo lo que nos ocurre, la mano amorosa de nuestro Padre Dios; abandonarse confiadamente en sus brazos paternales como lo hace un niño pequeño.
La primera parte se compone de un texto del reverendo Jean-Baptiste Saint-Jure (1588-1657), extraído, casi textualmente, de su gran obra "Del conocimiento y del amor del Hijo de Dios, nuestro Señor Jesucristo", que hizo las delicias y fue como el manual de ascética del santo Cura de Ars. Una obra de corte netamente ignaciano que nos ayuda a mejorar el conocimiento de la maravillosa acción del amor de Dios sobre todas sus criaturas.

La segunda parte del libro está escrita por san Claudio de la Colombiére (1641-1682), el que fuera director espiritual de santa Margarita María Alacoque y por tanto un ardiente devoto del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús.
