Magic and Mayhem behind the scenes....

As thrilling as the movies themselves, these accounts of making them add to any hardcore "Star Wars" fan's enjoyment. Mishaps, inside jokes, the pressure of deadlines, meticulous attention to detail, the intricate choreography of the space battles and duels, and how those fabulous special effects are done are almost as exciting as the finished product. The demands placed upon the actors, who must "interact" convincingly with characters and weaponry that isn't even there (added later by special effects artists and computer animators) is astounding. The reader gains a new appreciation for the genius of George Lucas and crew...as well as a hope that this won't REALLY be the last of this magnificent saga. I also recommend the excellent "Once Upon a Galaxy" which is the making of "The Empire Strikes Back."

For Casual and Die-Hard SW fans- -as well as Filmakers!!

Like everyone else has written, this book is just so full of great things related to Star Wars, not just Episode 3.

George Lucas will always be "The Man" who got me into filmaking(Robert Rodriguez is a close second), and its great to read about his thought process of concluding the Star Wars saga and the saga as a whole. I love the excerpt when he said something to the extent of Hollywood would never let Episode I be Episode I, but Episode I be made like Episode III for 3 WHOLE MOVIES. As much as unpopular Episode I was, he stood by his conviction of telling the first 3 stories the way they had to be told, arm-chair quarterbacks and critics who will never have 1/1000th of his success, be damned.

Written in logs, this book is a diary of the start to finish of making Episode 3, along with side notes, trivia, conceptual art, etc. What I like most about the book, is that I learned more about filmaking from an on-set insider POV with all parties involved(Lucas himself, Cinematographers, Producers, Assistants, Art Teams, Actors, Editors, etc.)than reading "filmaking" books or taking film classes.

I'm not really fickle about spoilers, but keep in mind this book has many. If you want to get the book AFTER watching the movie, by all means, do that, just get the book!! Just when you want to put the book down, you find something new and interesting!!

A superb eyewitness account of a technological masterpiece

If you're the type of person who enjoys the behind-the-scenes documentaries of moviemaking, this book will make you feel like a Hollywood insider. Regardless of your opinion of the movie itself, most can successfully argue George Lucas has once again managed to raise the bar in the realm of visual effects and digital production.

You may be surprised to know the entire movie was shot in less than two months. The book is laid out like a diary, with day-by-day discussions of the various scenes and what the actors and crew were going through as the movie was being shot. Considering over half the movie was digitally animated, the book is also chock full of art and photographs from initial concept to finished product.

Beware, this book covers the movie inside and out, so there are plenty of spoilers. However, once you've seen the movie, this book will likely make you want to see it again to catch everything you missed.

Simply blew me away

Elle Kennedy's Hidden Desires simply blew me away. This heart-wrenching story is sensual, sophisticated, and guaranteed to make you cry, so be sure you have a box of Kleenex handy before you begin reading this fantastic story. The pain that Rachel Foster and Travis Gage have endured over the years is enough to bring any superhero to their knees, even on their best day. I was engrossed in this captivating story from page one and read it in one sitting. Hidden Desires is a sensual story about love, loss, and letting go of the past in order to embrace the future and if you're like me, you'll find difficult to put down once you start reading it.

Rachel Foster is a strong woman who comes from a less than desirable childhood, and yet she's the glue that holds it all together. You can't help but admire her, be inspired by her, and feel sorry for her. I instantly fell in love with her character and at times found myself weeping for all the suffering she endured at the hands of her family and others who were just plain mean. It's obvious that her strength, intelligence and kindheartedness are what make Travis fall in love with her. They are truly soul mates in every essence of the word.

Although Travis Gage is one ruggedly handsome alpha male with a bank account that would give even Donald Trump a run for his money, his compassion and sensitivity to Rachel's needs will make you fall in love with him over and over again. Stunned by Rachel's accusation that he's the reason her sister committed suicide and determined to prove her wrong, both set out on a quest to find the truth and put the past where it belongs...in the past. But somewhere along the way, they find each other. Will a man who feels the need to save every damsel in distress finally get saved by the one woman who can make him whole? Will the damsel open her heart for the first time and let love in? Only time will tell.

Hidden Desires is a well-written, humorous, heart-wrenching, sensual story that will make you laugh and cry as the characters come to life before your very eyes. I will also have you begging for more with the turn of every page as the sexual tension between Rachel and Travis becomes so combustible that it destroys everything in its path, then Hidden Desires is definitely the book the to read. This is one emotional rollercoaster ride you don't want to miss. Bravo Ms. Kennedy! You've hit a home run with Hidden Desires and I'd definitely recommend it to all my friends.

I would love a story about Rachel's assistant Suzanna and maybe a little follow-up to see how Rachel and Travis are doing. Hint! Hint! *grin*

Hidden Desires

Rachel Foster had been trying for years to carve out some sort of semblance to a normal life. Her design business was finally starting to take off, but her personal life was still a disaster. Her alcoholic mother always made things difficult, but her sister's suicide had left a gaping hole in her heart, and she didn't know if she would ever get over it. When she ran into the man that drove her sister to take that drastic step, she couldn't contain her anger and resentment.

Travis Gage couldn't believe his luck when he ran into Rachel. He always liked her, and couldn't understand the hatred she felt for him. When she blurted out he was responsible for her sister's death, you could have knocked him over with a feather. Travis had spent years as a cop fighting for those that couldn't fight for themselves, and was determined to find out why Rachel thought he played some part in Carrie's death.

This is another good story by EK. I always enjoy her offerings, and this one is no different. Rachel is such a complex character that has lived a very difficult life. You can feel her ongoing pain and struggle. Travis enters her life at a time when she really needed someone that she could trust and rely on. You want them to solve the unanswered questions about Carrie's death, so Rachel can finally move on. An enjoyable read you don't want to miss.

Not Bad, but one thing annoyed me a great deal

I found a great deal I liked about his book, it had a good mystery and both characters where likable, but one thing made me downgrade it.

First to be clear I actually like erotic romances, but I wish authors would show a bit more originality on male leads.

The author, like many in this genera, thinks unless a male character is wealthy he can't be interesting. The fact he was a detective and an old high school class mate would have been a good base to build the character. But it seemed the author felt she had to spice him up by being rich as well (by the way a cold case department would be paid by the city not a rich dude playing detective).

To be blunt, when a female character says "I love you, not your money" type statement, its hard to believe it since 90% of the men in this types of books are rich. I kind of sends the message a mans worth is how much he is actually worth to most authors.

The rest of the book was well done, but the fact the author went the easy route to make the male lead "interesting" made me downgrade the book for lack of originality.

Sorry if this upsets some, but I admit its one of the things which kind of annoy me ... who knew there were so many 30ish millionaires/billionaires .. with god like bodies.

About the Author
Pamela Hays holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hawaii, a B.A. in psychology from New Mexico State University, and a certificate in French from La Sorbonne in Paris, France. From 1987 through 1988, she served as an NIMH postdoctoral fellow at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. From 1989 through 2000, she worked as core faculty member of the graduate psychology program at Antioch University in Seattle. In 2000, she returned to her home town on the Kenai Peninsula (Alaska) where she has since worked in community mental health, private practice, and with the Kenaitze Tribe's Nakenu Family Center. Her research has included work with Tunisian women in North Africa, and Vietnamese, Lao, and Cambodian people in the U.S. Pam lives in Kasilof, Alaska, which has a population of 500 people and several thousand moose. She provides consultation and teaches workshops internationally.

Interesting, Accessible, and Excellent Content

This book is short, but very helpful guide to making connections with diverse clients. It's written by Pamela Hays who is also the author of other excellent multicultural assessment and treatment materials. What I like best is not only the fact that it will help counselors and psychotherapists develop their cultural self-awareness, cultural knowledge, and culturally-oriented therapy skills, but that it's also written in a manner that's very clear and consequently, very accessible. It has many different reflective learning activities and concrete examples focusing on language and behavior that will help contribute the the reader's cultural sensitivity.

A Great Resource for Learning and Teaching

The content of this book by Pamela Hays is very accessible and practical. We need to be continually aware of how we are connecting across cultures and make sure that we are seeing the big picture. This is not only an excellent reference to increase cultural awareness but also as a resource for educators and trainers to encourage culturally relevant practices. The format really speaks to the "brain rules of learning" by including interactive exercises in each chapter--great for the reader and also as a teaching aid. "Connecting Across Cultures" starts by helping us to map our own cultural profile while acknowledging that everyone has subtle biases and making the case that we need to recognize how lack of awareness can impact how we communicate and connect. This toolkit has broad applications and speaks to everyone.

Excellent and very useful!

Connecting Across Cultures is a fantastic resource that come full of exercises that are easy to do and allows you to engage the public or student body in critical thinking in regards to minority populations. I used many of the exercises in this book in order to orient mental health professionals regarding how to work with minority populations competently. This book was incredibly helpful, easy to follow and easy to integrate into my presentation. I recommend this book to students and professionals alike! Great job Dr. Hays.

Great Instructional Resource For Professionals

A really excellent resource for professionals who want an inside look at the creative process of these two fantasy masters. I'm not sure why some people were critical of this book in their reviews? If you have any background in painting and drawing you should be able to fill in the how-to blanks of a painting development without a complete step-by-step coloring book tutorial! This is not a how-to for the novice artist, but certainly anyone can learn from this book.

Better than there first

This book I feel was much better than there first tutorial book, "Fantasy Art Techniques". That book left me with a lot of questions. But this one, was great. I am sure they get asked numerous questions by students and onlookers concerning the best technique. Everyone, like myself, looks for a cookie cutter method but when it comes to oil you have to come into your own. I notice there basic advice throughout the book is to just practice. I understand what that really means now. You have to learn through trial and error what works and what does not. Your own mistakes will be your lessons. But saying that, they still provide some great techniques for one to study and use.

Actually Dan Santos suggested this book for me after I was asking him some questions about Boris and Julie's style. I am glad he suggested this book.

Good advice from excellent artists

I've been entralled by Boris and Julie's book covers for many years. Fixated by their figures, fantasy creatures, and supernatural landscapes, I couldn't even imagine painting figures in such detail. What a surprize to find this book! This isn't your usual art instruction book. Rather, it's a well organized dialog with two of the most talented and accomplished artists of their genre. They share a considerable amount of advice and details about techniques, style, composition, and more for painters of all levels. It inspired me to take the plunge and try my hand at realistic portrait and figure painting, and by following the methods outlined and demonstrated in this book, I've been been pleasantly surprized with the results. Since then, I've acquired a substantial library of books by other authors, but I find myself returning to this and others by Boris and Julie, especiallyFantasy Art Techniques for reference and inspiration.

This book does a fabulous job helping businesses learn how to leverage the power of Facebook. Everyone thinks that being on Facebook will have instant benefits. But few realize that Facebook is a tool to build relationships with current and potential customers. It is not a pure sales platform. And this is where this book excels the most - it advocates using Facebook for building relationships, not hard selling. It also gives step-by-step instructions on how to implement the suggestions in the book. Finally, all of this is presented in a very easy-to-read manner. I teach entrepreneurship to undergraduates and plan to recommend this book to all of my students who are serious about starting their own businesses.

Johnny isn't bad

I read the fourth book in the Cade Creek with much anticipation. Unfortunately I did not enjoy it as much as I did the third book, Fireman's Flame. I kept hoping it would get better and it seemed to often, but then it would revert back to a subpare story. I adore Stormy Glenn but sometimes I don't like a story. This was one of those instances.

The story seemed to jump around. It seemed the MCs challenges were manufactured. Things happened just to make the story appear to be interesting and exciting. Part of my disappointment is that I enjoyed the previous book in the series so much. I wanted to like this story more, but I didn't. I had been looking forward to Jonny and Russ story only not as it was written.

The initial premise that the farmer didn't know what the paramedic did was a bridge too far for me, someone who loves male pregnancy stories. The two men lived in the same house. Each shared a close relationship with the "married" couple in the house. I imagine dinners were eaten together, just what was discussed? And I can't see his older brother or his brother's husband allowing the farmer to treat the paramedic the way he did without noticing and/or doing something about it.

Later the rough sex just seemed off kilter especially after all the abuse the paramedic had suffered. I didn't like how the farmer treated his young lover. Also there were quite a few improbables. How was the farmer suddenly able to stay away from his fields so much? How did he go from gruff uncommunicative to talking all the time? Why did Russ the farmer get a tattoo and never show Jimmy? Why was such a big deal made of a tragic crash then nothing more said about it? There was more but you get my drift.

I see that others really enjoyed this story. I'm glad. Often there are books I like better than other people. To each her own. I mostly rate a book by would I read it again. In this case no, but I can still recommend it to others with reservations.

Looking for a May/December romance with a gay man twist? Then the fourth installment in Stormy Glenn’s Cade Creek series just may fit the bill, at least in Russ’s eyes. Russ believes he is too old for Jonny. He refuses to see that the young man who ran to protect his family is older than his years would indicate. He pushes and pushes until finally Jonny has had enough. I adored how Ms. Glenn made Russ choke on crow once he got what he thought he wanted. I mean she wasn’t mean spirited about it but it definitely had her unique twist. And Jonny was willing to take only so much from the man who owned his heart. I loved seeing Jonny gain distance. And Iadored that Jonny didn’t make it easy for Russ to repair the damage he wrought. Being slapped down one time too many put the shoe on the other foot and now Jonny is afraid to give Russ his heart once again. He needed to learn to forgive. He had to learn that love involves taking a chance and courage is embodied in the simple. For meJonny Be Good by Stormy Glenn became a wonderful story about second chances and is well worth reading.

Yay! Jonny & Russ...

Jonny has been drawn to Russ, best friend of his brother’s husband and part-owner of the farm they live on, since he and his brothers and sister came to Cade Creek a year ago. He has come a long way since then, stated and finished school, got a job as a paramedic and starting to overcome the trauma of his abusive stepfather. The only thing that hasn’t changed is his attraction to Russ, but the man has made it pretty clear that he doesn’t want him. After a mind-blowing kiss and subsequent withdrawal from Ross the hot and cold gets too much and Jonny decides to leave the farm and move in with his friend Hank who has a room to let.
Russ has taken one look at Jonny and fallen for the man. But Jonny has been abused by his stepfather and Russ likes his sex rough, as in tying his partner up and spanking him. Best just to stay away. But still, having Jonny leave the farm is tough – but probably best for both of them.

Finally Jonny’s book, I had been waiting for this and it did not disappoint. Entertaining read, hot sex scenes and we get a chance to catch up with some of the characters from the previous books.
